Holy S*#^

So, last year for Christmas, my parents got Byron (well me too) a leaf sucker/blower thing. We finally bought it this past fall for our yard. I love doing yard work, and don't mind picking up the tons of leaves that we have all over our yard.

We have four window wells that we don't have covers on, so of course, leaves fall down there. I took great pride in cleaning those out this summer and putting river rock in them making them look nice, so I didn't want the leaves decomposing down there and the weeds to grow back, so I decided to leaf suck them out. I was on my last window well, down in the well, struggling with the huge bag on the leaf sucker when I looked down and saw the biggest spider I have ever seen in my life. I of course, screamed, dropped the leaf sucker and somehow, catapulted myself out of the window well. I was screaming Byron's name and jumping around the yard when he came out hold Carter. He looked at me as if I were insane and asked, "so what, you see a spider?" I said, hell yes I had seen a spider, but it was HUGE! He didn't believe me, so I grabbed Carter from him and made him look, sure enough, he agreed with me that it was the biggest spider he had seen too.

We are pretty sure that it was someones pet - a pet tarantula! It was so big, and there was no way that it could get out of our window well (and I was not about to let it try to get into our house!) so I told Byron to kill it. For those animal lovers, I am sorry, but yes, we killed the spider. He told me to get the spider killer from the shed, I ran to get the 1/2 can we had, he used it all on the spider and it didn't even phase the spider, he kept crawling around, acting as if the killer stuff was nothing. So, I ran back to the shed and got the other bottle.....Byron used about 1/2 of that bottle....finally the spider gave in and went to spider heaven. We went down into the basement a week later to get him out of the rocks (mostly because I didn't want him to come back to life and live down there, and I didn't want his spider family to find him down there) even after a week, you could still see how big he was! Gross!

I refuse to clean out the window wells now!

You could see the three set of eyes Mr. Spider had in the third picture! Ewwwwww! Gives me shivers even now!

  1. OMG, I am seriously gagging right now . . . and I've seen these photos before! If I do not sleep well tonight, my dear friends, you will definitely hear about it. Ugh! Megan, I do NOT blame you for vetoing the window well cleaning from here on out--I'm not even sure I'm going near your windows! (PLEASE tell me I get to sleep somewhere else in April--I'll even take the couch, k? No spider-access for me!)
