Springtime is nearing....

The weather in Colorado has been changing. One day it will snow and the next it will be mid 60's. This past weekend, it was GORGEOUS and the kids had cabin fever bad.

We took the kids out back. This was Carter's first time feeling grass (dead grass, but grass nonetheless!) He of course wanted to eat it.

Haylee hopped in her jeep and we put Carter in his walker in the street.

Our family can't wait for spring and summer to finally be here...we are outside people, and the long cold winter has been hard!

Little Skiier

We have been wanting to get Haylee onto a pair of skis to see how she would do. Thankfully, Chris still has connections to Carver's and was able to snag a pair of skis and boots for us to try out.

Haylee was so excited to try skiing...I think we have the next Olympic Downhill Skier in the family!

She looks like a pro!

We took Haylee on the driveway at the mountain house. There was enough slope for her to go on her own, but not go too out of control.

We started her out with a little gap between us, but she did so great that we put more space between us.

Even when she went the wrong direction and ran into the snow bank, she had a blast!

Miss Daredevil

So, as posted in the previous blog, we began our day sledding down the sidewalk at the house. Here are some pictures of that:

The three of us at the top of the hill getting ready to head down.

Haylee and her Daddy.
So, on Sunday of our trip, Haylee said that she wanted to try and go down the hill on the big sled by herself. I was a little nervous, as this is a pretty steep hill and you can get some speed on it.

Haylee the daredevil went down on the sled all by herself. When she felt like she was going to fall off, she would lay down on the sled...take a look at the video we got of her! It's so funny.

Wow, I knew that she was fearless, but wow...you go girl! She had a blast...and we enjoyed watching her gain more independence!

Breckenridge Bound

We were finally able to take a trip up to Breckenridge (since the kids had to get sick in January when we were going to go with the rest of the family, we couldn't go...)

It was such a nice weekend. It was Carter's first trip up there, both kids did great on the drive up. When we told Haylee we were going up, all she wanted to do once we got there was to go sledding. So, once we got settled in, we suited her up, and headed outside. She did great and had a blast.

Erin and Ryan came up as well, and they came out to enjoy the fun with us. After going down the walkway more times that I care to remember, my dad told us that friends of the partners had found a hill behind the house that was great for sledding. Byron, Dad, Haylee and myself all set out to find it. We found a clearing that we thought was it and set out to make it a good sledding hill. The snow was waist deep in some areas, which made it really difficult for Haylee to walk around in. She was a great sport in waiting for mommy, daddy and umpa to get a path for the sled. After a bit, our small scale sled hill turned into, "lets see if we can go from the top of this hill all the way down to the house" hill. Haylee was freezing, and my siblings were finally awake, so Haylee went in with Byron while the rest of us went to work on the hill.

We have nicknamed the sledding hill the "Denning Luge". This path was INSANE! Erin and I were going down the hill so fast that we couldn't start from the top of the hill because we would fly off the course! It was such a great time and we spent hours getting it right. We managed to make the path go from the top of the hill all the way to the house. We had to make a jump so that we would stop running into the fire pit! (Safety first!) It was such a great time.

Byron was able to sneak out and take some videos of us going down the hill.

This is the first successful run on the Denning Luge:

Dad tried as best as he could and was a great sport in trying to go down the luge, but he couldn't quite get it...he kept falling over wen he hit the turns.

Here are some pictures of all of us heading down the luge! Enjoy.

This is Byron down by the fire pit
before all the snow had been stomped down.

Dad caught some MAJOR air after
going off the jump. It was hilarious!

Haylee and I in the fire pit area too!
We had such a good time building and going down the luge....
